About Singapore Dizi Society

Dizi Society (Singapore) is a non-profit organisation founded in June 2000. Its main objectives are to promote the playing of Dizi and its related music in Singapore and to improve and elevate the standards and skills of playing the Chinese Flute amongst its members.

Formed to foster close relationships with and to promote cultural exchanges between other established chinese musical organisations in both Singapore and aboard, the society has been highly active in organizing public concerts as well as mini performances to raise the awareness of such cultural and social activities, not just amongst members but non-members as well.

 

Formed with an initial strength of 30, the society has progressed and increased the number of members over the years.

To congregate and influence a dynamic composition of Dizi enthusiasts to create our vision.

VISION

To inaugurate a contemporary generation of aspiring Dizi enthusiasts.

OBJECTIVES

  1. To promote the playing of dizi and its related music in Singapore.

  2. Improve the standards and skills of playing the dizi among the members.

  3. To foster relationships with and promote cultural exchanges between other established Chinese musical organisations in both Singapore as well as abroad.

  4. To organise social and cultural activities among members.

  5. To help preserve dizi playing as part of the cultural heritage of Singapore.​​
